goongarrie homestead WA

this is another pastoral lease that has been passed back to national parks. it is about 84k north of Kalgoorlie w.a. on the Kalgoorlie-Menzies Road. homestead is about 14k in from the highway.

GPS;
homestead 30.02.377S 121.09.419E. turn off 30.02.372S 121.09.356E

nominal camp fees are payable to NPWS in Kalgoorlie and can be done over the phone if you are heading south. it is dirt road in but shouldn't be a problem with 2wd unless there has been heaps of rain! there are 3 buildings, all in pretty good nick, old wood chip heaters and plumbing still operational in all three of the buildings and water is from rain water tanks, so hot showers are available after you fire up the chip heater. there is plenty of room and first night we were there, a group of 4WDs also camped the night, we were out of sight and hearing of each other, and had we not talked to them when they arrived, neither would have known the other was there. there is a short walk you can do with sign posts along the way. inside the buildings is amazingly clear of vandalism and graffiti and you could even sleep in them if you wanted.
