Bethungra Dam nsw

Bethungra dam is on Bethungra waterworks road, about 25k south of cootamundra. the turn off the highway is signposted and there is about 6k of good dirt road to the dam. this is a free campsite and council(?) come out to empty garbos etc.

looking toward main campground from my site
There is a long drop dunny there and no drinking water so bring everything in with you, nearest shopping would be woolworth/coles at cootamundra. when you drive in there is a track that heads down to the water in front of the longdrop, when you get down near waters edge you will see set of wheel tracks heading away from the dam wall along the flat, that was were i set up. even tho there were a few there over weekend, almost nobody came up where i was, water was to shallow for boats/swimming at that point.

My campsite, with main campground over the back, long drop is just on the right hand side about 3/4 the way up if you look closely.

Sign warning of algae in water, still had quite a few in swimming the weekend i was there.

when i said almost noone came up my way, couple of young blokes drove up in a ute, read my sign then came up to the van to tell me they liked the sign, next morning, some bastard had stolen it!!
